§ Dr. BoysonThe basic maintenance grant payable to mandatory award holders studying for a year abroad in a high cost country is £2,050 in the current academic year and will be £1,825 in the 1981–82 academic year. This represents a reduction in absolute terms of about 11 per cent. This reflects amongst other factors the relative strength of the pound in October 1980.
