§ Mr. Foulkes.asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will initiate action in the light of the recent court of appeal judgment in R. v. Grossman to the effect that the Inland Revenue has no power to investigate bank records in the Isle of Man; and if this judgment will affect efforts by United Kingdom authorities to prevent tax avoidance by the use of the Isle of Man as a tax haven.
§ Mr. Peter Rees[pursuant to his reply, Tuesday 21 July 1981, c. 92]: The Inland Revenue is studying the implications of the Court of Appeal's judgment in Regina v Grossman; it is too soon to assess its effects.
