asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what studies have been undertaken for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive into the cost of heating homes by different methods; and what is the result of these studies.

This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, but I understand from the chairman that a study is made of the comparative costs of methods of home heating on a regular basis, and the position at 10 June 1981 was as follows:

health and (c) social services in Ulster in each of the past five years; and what are the comparable figures for the Republic of Ireland.
