Members have a statutory right to be consulted when the appointment of members to district health authorities is being considered.
§ Dr. VaughanAppointments to district health authorities are made by regional health authorities and specified local authorities. RHAs are required by law to consult a wide variety of bodies about membership and all, so far as I am aware, consult the major political parties in the relevant locality. I would hope that the political parties take the views of hon. Members into account in forwarding their recommendations. Hon. Members are, of course, free to make suggestions as to membership to RHAs at any time. I am not aware of any difficulties arising in this respect, but if my hon. Friend has a particular case in mind, I should be glad to look into it.
