§ Mr. Colvinasked the Secretary of State for Employment limy many secret ballots have taken place for which applications have been made under section 1 of the Employment Act 1980 for payments towards expenditure incurred by independent trade unions in administering these ballots.
§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many applications the Government have received from trades unions for grants to help pay for a secret postal ballot.
§ Mr. WaddingtonI am informed by the Certification Officer, who is responsible for its administration, that since the introduction on 1 October 1980 of the scheme made in pursuance of section 1 of the Employment Act 1980 he has received 11 such applications for payment from public funds towards the cost incurred in holding secret postal ballots.
