§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will introduce a system of clearly identifying the origin of both cloths and finished garments, to assist customers who wish to buy British-made goods.
§ Mrs. Sally OppenheimI made it clear in the debate in Standing Committee on 1 April that a legal requirement for marking the origin of fabric in clothing would present formidable difficulty, but that I hope the woollen textile and garment industries will consider the possibility of a voluntary marking scheme.
