§ Mr. Freesonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what reply he has sent to the leader of Brent council in response to his letter of 15 June inviting him to a public meeting in Brent to discuss the question of accountability and the Government's policies.
§ Mr. Heseltine[pursuant to his reply, 6 July 1981]: I wrote to Councillor Bryson today. I have noted the points which he had made to me but since it is for individual authorities to decide how they should make the sayings which I have requested of them, it would be inappropriate for me to join in a public debate about how Brent council might attempt to do so.
