HC Deb 13 July 1981 vol 8 c280W
Mr. Pawsey

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he decided to introduce the statutory instruments on the growth of small lotteries which result in the payment by the organisations of a registration fee of £20 and an additional annual fee of £10.

Mr. Whitelaw

The monetary limits on these lotteries and the fees payable, which are intended to cover the administrative costs of registration, were fixed by the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976. Both have been doubled with effect from 1 July 1981 to take account of the effect of inflation.
