§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the cost of maintaining a youth opportunity programme of 146,000 young people.
§ Mr. Peter Morrison[pursuant to his reply, 30 June 1981, c. 255]: The cost of such a programme will depend on what proportion of young people enter the various types of scheme available, and how long they stay on the programme. On present plans it is expected that during 1981–82 there will be an average of 160,000 young people on the youth opportunities programme each month. This will cost £320 million per annum at current prices.
