§ 44. Mr. McNallyasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on his official visit to the A6(M) at Stockport and on his Department's priority for the start of road building there.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeMy visit left me in no doubt about the problems on the A6 and the need for a bypass. In our current review of the road programme we will be considering when it might be possible to accommodate this very costly project, but I cannot anticipate our decision. I am sure that this road must be built as soon as it is realistically possible to find the resources to do so.
