HC Deb 26 January 1981 vol 997 cc281-2W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what have been the results of his contacts with Courtaulds Ltd. over the assets disposed of by it which were covered by Government financial assistance; if he will list all such assets in the Official Report; if he will publish any correspondence he has had with the company on this matter; and what sums he expects to recover from the company in respect of these assets.

Mr. MacGregor

I would refer the hon. Member to the replies which I gave on 15 January 1981 and 21 January 1981 to the hon. Member for Carlisle (Mr. Lewis) and the hon. Member for Ormskirk (Mr. Kilroy-Silk). Discussions are still continuing with Courtaulds on whether regional development grants may be repayable following the closure of various Courtaulds premises in the North of England. It is not the practice to publish confidential correspondence between the Department and the company. Publishing lists of all the assets concerned would involve excessive costs.
