§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish in the Official Report or other publication and annual progress report on the actions taken and the developments which follow such action by the area health authorities with the highest perinatal mortality and handicap rates in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. John PattenConsultations are taking place with health and social services boards in Northern Ireland about the implementation of recommendations made in the recently published report of the Baird committee on infant mortality and handicap in Northern Ireland and all four boards will be asked for periodic progress reports. In addition, the rates of perinatal mortality in Northern Ireland, which are published in the annual report of the Registrar General, will continue to be monitored. Reference will be made to progress in this field, as appropriate, in annual reports of the Northern Ireland Department of Health and Social Services.
