asked the Lord Privy Seal what steps are now being taken to obtain the release of Mrs. Damm's blocked compensation for property in Tanzania from the Tanzanian Government.

We have continued to make periodic representations to the Tanzanian authorities about Mrs. Damm's blocked compensation. As a result the Bank of Tanzania authorised in March 1980 a remittance of some £2,000 and in December a further sum of about £1,000. We shall continue to urge that the remainder of Mrs. Damm's compensation should likewise be remitted to her.
