HC Deb 12 January 1981 vol 996 cc426-7W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Prime Minister if she will list the names and positions of all persons whose Civil Service pay has been supplemented by outside organisations since May 1979, listing the names of the organisations, together with the respective additional payments made to each person.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Prime Minister if pursuant to her answer on 18 December 1980 at Question Time, Official Report column 838, she will give details of all civil servants presently having their salary topped up privately.

The Prime Minister

The pay of career civil servants is never supplemented. Successive Governments have from time to time made arrangements under which some individuals engaged for particular short-term appointments have received additional payment from outside organisations, but this is a matter of confidential negotiation in each case.
