§ 39. Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Transport what relationship he foresees between maximum heavy lorry weights and sizes in the future and physical control over the areas where such vehicles may move and park.
§ Mr. FowlerMost such controls are imposed for reasons of amenity or to protect bridges. The Armitage report does not envisage any additional controls being required for the types of lorry recommended, on the grounds that these would not be environmentally worse or more damaging to bridges than existing vehicles.
