Member for Doncaster on 18 July 1980, Official Report, c. 732, that the average cost to public funds of each unemployed coal miner is now estimated to be £6,492 during the first year of unemployment, and £5,390 during the second year of unemployment.

§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe average cost to public funds of each unemployed mine worker is now estimated to be £6,810 per worker during the first year of unemployment, and £5,732 during the second year of unemployment. The estimates are based on the assumption that each mine worker remains unemployed for the whole of the two-year period.
