§ The Prime MinisterThe Government supported the United Nations General Assembly resolution of 20182W November, which expressed the hope that the United Nations Secretary-General would appoint a special representative. Dr. Waldheim has now appointed a personal representative to carry forward the efforts which he has been making. The Government hope that this step will help in bringing about a solution involving the complete withdrawal of Soviet troops and the freedom of the Afghan people to have a Government of their own choosing.
