asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (a) What was the total number of United Kingdom Civil Service industrial employees (excluding Northern Ireland Civil Service industrial employees) in post in Northern Ireland on (i) 1st April 1979, (ii) 31st December 1980; and
  2. (b) What is the planned target for the number to be in post on 1st April 1984.

Information is not available for the dates specified. At 1st January 1979 there were 2,810 United Kingdom Civil Service industrials in Northern Ireland and at 1st January 1981 there were 2,523. There is no separate planned target for the number of industrial civil servants in post in Northern Ireland on 1st April 1984.
