§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what additional financial support he intends to give towards the National Film Archive to ensure the conservation and to prevent the rapid deterioration beyond retrieval of the films in the Joye collection, which represent many irreplaceable films from the first two decades of the industry.
§ Mr. ChannonAs already announced, the British Film Institute will receive a grant-in-aid of £6.4 million in 1981–82 for all its activities, including those of the National Film Archive. The institute fully recognises the importance of the Joye collection and is giving the highest priority to its preservation. It hopes that, in addition to its own support of this work, there will be a substantial contribution from private funds.
