450WI have approved for issue to regional health authorities a circular, copies of which are available in the Vote Office, containing guidance on the arrangements necessary to bring the pattern of community health councils into line with that of the new district health authorities. The circular also contains guidance on the role of community health councils, and on matters relating to size, membership and appointments. Amendment of the current regulations governing community health councils will be necessary to give effect to some of the transitional arrangements and to certain minor changes in term of office and appointments procedures. Amending regulations will be laid before the House shortly.
