§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department by what date he expects orders to be laid before Parliament implementing the proposals on parliamentary seats of the Boundary Commission for England and Wales.
§ Mr. MayhewSection 2(5) of the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Act 1949 requires the Secretary of State to lay the report of a boundary commission together with a draft order giving effect, with or without modifications, to its recommendations, as soon as may be after the report is submitted. I understand that both the English and Welsh Commissions hope to complete their reviews by the end of 1982 and to submit their reports as soon as possible thereafter.
