HC Deb 14 December 1981 vol 15 cc46-7W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his policy towards the work produced by the office of Health Economics on accidents in childhood.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The report of the office of Health economics on "Accidents in Childhood" usefully brings together many of the available statistics on this subject. The report emphasises the important role of health education in raising general awareness about the problem of child accidents. To this end we are supporting the child accident prevention committee, which acts as a focal point for collecting and disseminating information. We are also providing funds to the Health Education Council for its work with the BBC in the current "Play It Safe" campaign.
