HC Deb 03 December 1981 vol 14 c217W
Mr. Freeson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will meet Professor Hobbs of the Westminster bone marrow team to discuss future funding of the project;

(2) how much his Department has given to the Westminster bone marrow team since 1970; and if he plans to allocate more resources to this team;

(3) what is the average cost of a bone marrow transplant; and how this compares with the cost of caring for such patients by other means;

(4) if he will estimate how many children would benefit from a bone marrow transplant;

(5) if his Department has a working party looking at bone marrow transplantation; and, if so, if it intends to invite witnesses to attend any of its meetings or to submit evidence.
