§ Mr. Raceasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will place in the Library a copy of his paper 93W on the future of the war pensioners welfare service presented to the meeting of the central advisory committee on war pensions; and if he will make a statement on the committee's reactions to his proposals.
§ Mr. RossiYes. I stress that the paper was a discussion document, not a statement of proposals for change. The committee did not feel that the voluntary organisations were able to take over the visiting of war pensioners at present done by the Department's staff. I have accepted its conclusions. The committee agreed that there is scope for further consideration of the criteria for inclusion in the visiting list and the priorities for visiting. We are considering these.
