§ Mr. Ernie Robertsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many (a) foreign nationals and (b) Commonwealth citizens were deported following conviction within the Metropolitan Police area during 1980; and what offences they committed;
(2) if he will give a breakdown by ethnic category of the foreign nationals and Commonwealth citizens who were deported following conviction within the Metropolitan Police area during 1980.
§ Mr. RaisonI regret that information in the form requested is not readily available and could be provided only at disproportionate cost. The Metropolitan Police effected the deportation of a total of 322 Commonwealth citizens and 357 foreign nationals in 1980. Not all these deportations followed a conviction.
