HL Deb 14 April 1981 vol 419 c976WA
Earl Amherst

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of the fact that a letter posted in the Palace of Westminster on 3rd March took 37 days to reach New York City, they have power to ensure that the Post Office takes steps to eliminate the increasing time taken by airmail letters between London and New York City, in spite of the ever increasing costs.

Lord Lyell

I sympathise with the noble Earl in the inconvenience he has been caused, but this is an operational matter for the Post Office or, if appropriate, the US Postal Service.

House adjourned at four minutes before eleven o'clock.
