§ Mr. KingOnly one local authority, the borough of Darlington, is known to have asked contractors and subcontractors to certify that all their employees are in membership of their appropriate trade unions, as a condition for inclusion in the council's tendering lists. The Government stongly deplore such discrimination, and the matter is being actively investigated.
