§ Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many sterilisations of female patients were carried out in the United Kingdom during 1979 and 1980; and what is the breakdown of the respective figures according to socio-economic group;
(2) whether sterilisations of female patients may be recommended by general practitioners on social as well as medical grounds; and if he will make a statement.
