§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consultations he is having with bodies representing firemen and fire officers on future policy on fire safety.
§ Mr. WhitelawMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and I intend that future action on proposals in the Green Paper on future fire policy which are of direct concern to the fire service should be conducted through the established machinery of the Central Fire Brigades Advisory Councils for England and Wales and for Scotland, on which the various fire service organisations are represented. The councils and their constituent committees have already discussed a number of aspects of the Green Paper.
