§ 22. Mr. McQuarrieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received from persons in Scotland who are aggrieved at the delay in processing the sale of their council homes by the local authority under the Tenants' Rights, Etc. (Scotland) Act 1980; and what steps he proposes to take in this matter.
§ Mr. RifkindMy right hon. Friend has received such representations from tenants of a number of the local authorities in Scotland. These tenants have been informed of their rights under the Act to refer matters to the Lands Tribunal for Scotland. If there is ground for believing that any local authority is in default of its statutory obligations, my right hon. Friend will consider the exercise of the powers given him by section 211 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.
