HC Deb 28 October 1980 vol 991 c269W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if there is an official scale of fees paid by the Government to general practitioners for examinations conducted on behalf of the Department of Transport, the Department of Health and Social Security, local authorities and other central or local government organisations; and if he will publish it.

Dr. Vaughan

Fees for most services provided by doctors for Government Departments are agreed between the Civil Service Department and the British Medical Association; I am arranging with my right hon. Friend the Minister for the Civil Service for copies of the current general schedule on which most departmental fees are based to be placed in the Library of the House. A more detailed schedule of the departmental fees is currently under revision and no complete list has yet been compiled. Fees payable to doctors by health authorities for services provided to local authorities under collaborative arrangements are negotiated by this Department with the representatives of the medical profession. A copy of the current schedule has been placed in the Library.
