§ 25. Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a further statement on the use of Ministry of Defence land at Shoeburyness.
§ Mr. HayhoeMinistry of Defence use of land at Shoeburyness has not changed substantially since my answer to a question by the hon. Member for Isle of Wight (Mr. Ross) on 29 January 1980—[Vol. 977, c. 571–2.]
256WWe are ready to negotiate with Southend borough council about the use of the land in the Old Ranges which is surplus to our requirements. It will, however, be necessary to ensure that there is no development there in the future which would inhibit the use of the nearby beaches for the testing of guns and ammunition.
