asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the latest balance or imbalance in trade between the United Kingdom and non-OPEC industrialising countries during the last 12 months for which figures are available.

Mr. Nott:

In the period September 1979 to August 1980 the overall crude trade deficit was £173 million. This was made up of a crude surplus in manufactured goods of £1,096 million and a crude deficit in other goods primarily food and raw materials of £1,269 million.
