asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the amount 20W spent per pupil in both primary and secondary education in Scotland overall and each of the regional and island authorities.

Figures for expenditure on primary and secondary pupils separately are not available centrally for all the regional and islands councils. Those which are available are shown in the table below, and relate to 1978–79.
