HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 cc47-8W
Mr. Anderson

asked the Secretary for Trade if, in the light of the Consolidated Gold Fields' case, and other recent cases, he will seek to amend the Companies Acts so as more effectively to regulate dawn raids in share dealings.

Mr. Eyre:

The non-statutory authorities have this matter in hand, and I see no need to deal with it in the Companies Acts. On 7 August the Council for the Securities Industry imposed a temporary ban on its members' participation in such raids and has since been devising permanent rules to control such dealings which it hopes to announce shortly.
