§ Lord TREFGARNEThe intercommunal talks in Cyprus under United Nations auspices are held in private. After the meeting on 8th October, which was the fourth in the current series of talks, the representative in Cyprus of the Secretary-General of the United Nations confirmed that the atmosphere had again been good. The Government strongly support the intercommunal talks, and the United Nations role in them, as the best way to achieve a just and lasting settlement.
