§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of the North Sea oil revenues was used to finance new projects in Scotland in the years 1977, 1978 and 1979 and the first six months of 1980; and if he will list them in the Official Report.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThis information is not available. Public expenditure in Scotland, as in the rest of the United Kingdom, is financed from general Government income, to which North Sea oil taxation contributes. This is in accordance with the long-standing policy that the level of public spending in particular areas should be mainly determined by relative needs.
