HC Deb 24 November 1980 vol 994 cc23-4W
55. Mr. Jessel

asked the Attorney-General what consideration Her Majesty's Government are giving to the Law Commission's report on maintenance for divorced and separated spouses.

The Attorney-General

The Law Commission's report is a discussion of the issues in this field and possible directions for reform, but it does not put forward any firm conclusions or recommendations. No Government decision on the report is, therefore, called for. The Lord Chancellor hopes, however, that this very useful paper will help to promote a wider public discussion and understanding of the very difficult problems involved.
