The Solicitor-GeneralDuring the present term, five retired High Court judges have been invited to sit judicially, one in the High Court and four in the Court of Appeal. In addition, two retired Lords Justices have been invited to sit in the Court of Appeal and one in the Privy Council. Invitations are issued to dispose of business in the event of an unexpected absence of a judge or to assist in the hearing of cases when the state of business makes this desirable.
