§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Wales what measures the 340W are entitled to little or no relief since they are receiving tax-free disability payments, and the blind persons' tax allowance is reduced by reference to such payments received. The number claiming the relief whose tax is thereby reduced is about 25,000—counting married couples as one where both claim the relief—and the average benefit in 1979–80 was about £50.
