asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what rate of purchase tax was payable on cars during the five years ended 31 March 1973.

The rates in question were:

From 21.7.66	27 ½ per cent.
" 20.3.68	33⅓ per cent.
" 23.11.68	36⅔ per cent.
" 20.7.71	30 per cent.
" 22.3.72	25 per cent.
