§ Mr. Marlowasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are the annual running costs of (a) the United Kingdom Parliament and (b) the United Kingdom's share of the European Assembly, on the same bases of calculation.
§ Mr. Lawson[pursuant to his reply, 15 May 1980, c. 655]: About £30 million has been included in the 1980–81 Estimates for the running of the United Kingdom Parliament. The 1980 Community budget provision for the European Parliament is about £100 million, of which the United Kingdom's share would be about 21 per cent. The cost of Members' salaries, allowances and expenses has been excluded from both figures.
