§ 23. Mr. Rathboneasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he is satisfied that the existing system of bilateral negotiation of air transport services within Europe is operating in the best interests of the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. TebbitThe existing system has provided us with an extensive network of air services in Europe, but I strongly believe that it should be possible to give the air traveller in Europe a better deal and have taken initiatives with the aim of achieving this multilaterally in both the European Community and the wider 21 Nation European Civil Aviation Conference. In the meantime we make the best use we can of the bilateral system as it is.
