HC Deb 06 May 1980 vol 984 c84W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will consider making adequate financial assistance to Turning Point, the Helping Hand Organisation, in view of its valuable contribution to alleviating the medical and social problems of alcoholism and in view of the drain on the National Health Service caused by alcoholism.

Sir George Young

Last year the Department granted £29,000 towards Turning Point's headquarters costs and will consider an application in respect of headquarter's costs for 1980–81. Support for local activities should be sought from local statutory authorities.
