§ Mr. Spriggsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the Minister of State's reply to the hon. Member for St. Helens on 25 March, with regard to the disproportionate cost of estimating the costing of recent improvements for disabled people, what the cost of making this estimate would be.
§ Mr. PrenticeThe improvements to which I referred have all been welcomed 703W by disabled people. I am satisfied that to cost them would require disproportionate staff time and expense. For example, it would be necessary to ask Motability Finance Ltd. to scrutinise individual receipts for cars issued and, from those, calculate the amount of VAT which would have been paid but for the exemption.
