§ Mr. Frank R. Whiteasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many homeless households there were in Scotland in each of the last five years.
§ Mr. RifkindInformation on homeless households was not collected centrally until April 1978 when the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 took effect.
From 1 April 1978 to 31 December 1978, 6,765 households were assessed by housing authorities as being in priority need and as homeless or potentially homeless. In 1979, it is estimated that 7,700 were assessed as in priority need and homeless or potentially homeless.
