§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe only toll bridge in England for which I am directly responsible is the Severn bridge and the information requested for this bridge, is as follows:
Books of 50 prepaid vouchers are available for all classes of traffic at a 10% discount.
Toll charges were increased with effect from 29 August 1979.
Present Previous Motorcycles 10p 5p Motorcars and light vans 20p 12p Heavy lorries, buses and coaches 40p 12p The Tamar bridge and Middlesbrough transporter bridge are the only other publicly owned toll bridges.
Information on the timing of toll increases on the Tamar brige is not available since the operators do not always charge up to the maximum authorised levels. Books of 20 pre-paid vouchers are available for all classes of traffic at a 50% discount.
