HC Deb 24 March 1980 vol 981 cc434-5W
Mr. Whitehead

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representation of the general public there was on the Supplementary Benefits Commission and the National Insurance Commission; and what is proposed for the Social Security Advisory Committee.

Mr. Prentice

The relevant legislation provides for some members of the National Insurance Advisory Committee and, in future, the Social Security Advisory Committee, to be representative of certain interests. That apart, all members of these bodies, and of the Supplementary Benefits Commission, are members of the general public.
