Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many persons entering the United Kingdom since the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 came into force and who applied to local authorities for permanent accommodation under the terms of the Act have had their applications granted, so far as England and Wales are concerned.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

asked Between January 1978 and June 1979 local authorities in England accepted responsibility for securing accommodation for about 2,000 homeless households who had been living abroad one month previously. Information in terms of persons is not available. Information for Wales is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many persons entering the United Kingdom from abroad by way of Heathrow airport have applied to the borough of Hilling-don for permanent accommodation under the terms of the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 since the Act came into force; and how many have been granted such accommodation.
