asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many subcontractors in Wales hold 714 certificates; what were the corresponding figures for the last 10 years; and if he will make a statement.

I presume the hon. Member is referring to the new arrangements which came into force in 1977.

The only information available about subcontractors in Wales is of the number of certificates issued by tax offices in Wales. These are:—
